OOTD | back to it
Simple little outfit including my favorite jeans, books, and trend: plaid. I needed an extra layer and wore a khaki jacket from a couple of seasons ago and a white knit circle scarf.
I haven't been dressing how I would like since I've started college. I mostly wear leggings and sweatshirts because I have to be in class by 8am every morning. I do however dress up when I go out to lunch or hang out with my friends. Hopefully I'll have the time and energy to get back to blogging.

OOTD | plaid please
Though varied, the trends at my school are pretty distinct. Some students wear full workout attire, while others take on trends and show them off at school. I fall in the middle ground, where I don't particularly care and want to be comfortable, but also was to give off the vibe that I'm not trying that hard. Anyways, the girls I notice around campus wear some dark washed skinnies, comfortable shoes, a graphic tee, then top it off with a plait button down of some sort. They gave me inspiration today.
P.S. Everyday I've gone to campus I've worn a bold lip. Today it was a combination of Milani's Sangria & Revlon's Wine Not.
Band Tee- Coldplay Concert years ago
Jeans- AE High Rise Jeggings
Boots- Madden Girl
Plaid- H&M
My newest obsession is that the J.Crew Outlet near my hometown always has a 40% off sale plus they accept student discounts which is another 15% so the merchandise there is always a deal. I snagged this canvas laptop bag in the men's section and it has fit all my things perfectly.

Essentials| Back to School Beauty
With the end of school comes back to school season so some of us are going to be in school for around 8 hours if not more. I definitely do not want my makeup melting off my face or fading. Before I found some of the products below I would find my makeup nonexistent by the end of the day. Another aspect of back to school season is reluctantly waking up in the early morning so I try to have a concise and quick makeup routine while still having the look I want.
A primer will help your makeup last longer throughout the day as well as enhance the overall appearance of your foundation. Finding a primer to suit your skin type is pretty easy. Smashbox, for example, have an extensive range of primers for different purposes. Benefit also has different primers. Above is the The POREfessional primer which diminishes the look of pores and the other is the Stay Flawless primer which comes in a stick form. This is my personal recommendation for back to school. Application is very easy. You just twist up the primer and apply it to your face straight from the tube. Rub it in and it will act as a magnet for your makeup to stick to your face. Great for liquid or powder foundation.
Don't let the All Nighter name of this setting spray fool you, I use this everyday to keep my makeup on and take away any powdery look on my face. The De-Slick Makeup Setting spray is also effective but if you're really oily you'll want to use it in conjunction with a primer.
For early mornings I opt for powder and concealers. It's the easiest and fastest way for me to get the coverage I want. I don't have horrible acne, just a few blemishes here and there, but I do have acne scars on my forehead and some discoloration on my cheeks. The full coverage concealer (Makeup Forever Full Cover concealer) gets me the coverage I need without having to use liquid foundation. I use my MAC Studio Sculpt concealer in a lighter shade to counteract my under eye darkness and L'Oreal True Match Powder for a little bit of overall coverage. This powder is the best color match for my personally, as I have an extremely yellow undertone. If you wish to use liquid foundation make sure it blends in perfectly with your skin so that you don't have to fiddle with mixing different foundations to get the right color match.
One of the most crucial part of any makeup routine is mascara. Take the two minutes to apply your favorite mascara and your eyes will stand out and look more awake. My favorite is The Falsies Flared Volum' Express Waterproof mascara by Maybelline. It has a dryer formula thats better for my short straight lashes.
A way to make you look like you spent a lot of time on your makeup, not to mention alive too, is to add a little blush and bronzer. I lightly contour my face with Revlon's Bronzed & Chic bronzer which is matte and wonderful. A little blush on the apples of the cheeks or, my personal favorite, on the back of the cheekbones.
Last but not least pick a moisturizing "my lips but better" lip color, something easy to apply and throw into your bag. Above I have a Milani lipstick in Plumrose, Maybelline Color Whisper in Made It Mauve, and L'Oreal Color Riche Color Caress lip color in Rose Tafetta.
I hope these products and tips give you a little inspiration for you to revamp your back to school beauty routine! It's all about trial and error to practice before your first day back. Good luck!

Travel | Europe Recap
My grandmother graciously took our family on a European cruise this summer. It consisted of two and a half days in Rome, a seven night cruise, and another two days in Rome. Here are the highlights.
Halfway there we caught a taxi and arrived at the foot of the tower. |
Another day and train ride to Venice. Simply amazing. |
The Rialto Bridge |
View from the Rialto Bridge which I stuck a filter on, tweeted, and used as my twitter header. |
Lights coming through the windows of the Vatican. |
Messina, Sicily where the water was calm and wonderful. |
Marble stadium built for the Olympics in Athens, Greece. |
Elegant mosque in Kusadasi, Turkey. |
Apparently Turkish rugs are second to none and use a double knot rather than a single knot. |
The Colosseum in all it's glory. |
The inside, which was equally as glorious. |
The Trevi Fountain, aka where Lizzie McGuire became an international pop star. |
And we got back just in time for the Fourth of July!
Out & About | off the grid & the to do list
Have yet to convince my friends to take a good picture of me for my blog. |
This afternoon I went to Off the Grid with my best friend, her boyfriend, and my other best friend. We went there with the intent to try Señor Sisig, a Filipino fusion food truck, known for their variations on Filipino marinated pork. The line for this food truck was the longest of the 14 vendors that were there and took us about an hour and a half to order. However after ordering outlet food was ready within 15 minutes.
The Señor Sisig Menu |
I got The "Señor" Sisig Burrito which was pretty good and very filling but the price was a little steep as it cost $8.75 for just the burrito. After tasting my food I soon forgot the price. The burrito includes adobo rice, another Filipino staple, which I thought overpowered the pork sisig, but it was good anyways.
The To Do List screencap |
The To Do List is a raunchy comedy you shouldn't ever watch with your parents. Ever. I laughed a bunch with my friends and identified with the main character, played by Aubrey Plaza. Her dead-pan humor and personality translated to her character and made me love her more.

Today I was required to wear primarily black for my grandmother's entombment. As with all my family affairs I was allowed a relatively casual ensemble. Although it is summer, Bay Area mornings are always chilly, hence the thick cardigan.
